The perfect Parka

In search of Parka perfection? Never fear, I have searched high and low in my own quest for a Parka that is a little more ‘Polished’ than ‘Park kick about’.

The following are, in my opinion the crème de la crème of Parka’s. There is nothing I love more than a bountiful fur trim gracing the hood, an angelic halo affect that occasionally borders on Eskimo-in-a-snow-storm territory – something perhaps not so suited to the streets of London, however cold it gets.
Winter coats are usually a half hearted attempt, they are either one of two things – practical or stylish. The beauty of a Parka? It’s the whole package! Toasty warm, Practical (there’s a reason Army Green was invented) and stylish to boot whether paired with a cute-as-a-button dress or with skinny jeans and cosy Cashmere on those days you don’t really care.
Banish those thoughts of Liam & Noel Gallagher circa the 90’s and enter the world of Parka Paradise:

Burberry Brit Fur trim Hooded Parka £795 www.burberry.com

The Parka that started it. I ADORE this Parka, my personal choice for every future Autumn/Winter that comes my way. The fur, Finland Racoon, so the label says, is detachable and the hood packs neatly away into the collar making it a perfect spring option too. In the words of one of my dear friends, ‘Burberry KNOWS how to do a Coat.’

Marc by Marc Jacobs Fur trim Cotton Parka £530 www.my-wardrobe.com

A nifty navy option for those with a more reserved colour palette. This beauty fits the bill for androgynous styling with it’s over sized shape and minimal hardware.
D&G Khaki Silk Parka £1939 www.my-wardrobe.com
Trust D&G to combine a multitude of trends to create one fashion savvy statement piece. Silk, Fur and Neon collide (neon stitching, a nice little touch) bringing the Parka into high fashion territory.
Red by Valentino Tulle-embellished hooded Parka £515 www.netaporter.com

Valentino waves its magic wand once again, offering this delightful and unashamedly girly take on the Parka. Definitely not for the likes of Liam or Noel, the Parka has been reinvented with pretty pleating, tulle and bows galore.
Matthew Williamson Leather sleeve Parka www.selfridges.com

Matthew Williamson adds this beauty to the mix. An eclectic design masquerading as a Parka as with its leather sleeves, cocoon shape and battleship shoulders it is far from the traditional ‘borrowed from your boyfriend’ style. However, any lucky lady would be the (pretend)Parka Princess in this showstopper.
